Futurama is an animated cartoon that shows us in each episode, just what the world could be in 1000+ years. The world is very far advanced with more than just humans living there. And having the ability to go to distant planets, and live on them also. Even robots that have their own lifestyle. Below are the main characters and a brief description about each.
Phillip J. Fry. Fry is the character from the past. A Pizza Delivery Boy that was sent to deliver a pizza to I. C. Wiener at the Crynogenics labs. He finds out the delivery is a fake, and while leaning back in a chair, he falls over and tumbles into a freezing chamber, locking him in a frozen state for 1000 years. Brought to the future, he finds that life in the future is far more advanced than the year 2000. He slowly adapts to the futuristic world by getting a job at Planet Express, where he gets friends that show him what life is all about now.
Turanga Leela. Leela is the captain of the Planet Express ship. Although she appears human in body form. Having only one eye seperates her from humans. Being the only Cyclops, she desperately tried to find her parents and if there are more of her kind. She finds her parents but finds out just who she is and why she is one of a kind.
Bender Bending Rodriguez. Bender, the Robot, is the character with the "I don't care" Attitude. This robot was origionally designed to do bending work, but he got a job at Planet Express and still is a royal pain. But by doing it, he still is a friend to Fry. He drinks, smokes, and causes as much trouble as possible when he is bored.
Dr. John Zoidberg. Zoidberg is another non-human character. A lobster actually. His kind came to earth in the 2200's. Zoidberg always has an appetite and hasnt fully gotten all the concepts of earth living. He always seems to get into situations that are rather funny, and can be multiple personalities.
Hermes Conrad. Hermes is the big buisness man of the Planet Express Crew. He is always about making the most money and keeping Planet Express running. This Jamacian accented character always gives the crew assignments to do, and will sometimes help them in problems.
Amy Wong. Amy is the teenage princess of Planet Express. Her parents live on Mars and are LOADED! Amy is one of the richest characters in the show. But where she is smart, she can lack in smarts. She falls in love with a little green alien named Kif.
Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth. Professor Farnsworth is the oldest character in the show, being 144. But his age doesn't matter to this guy. He's still active in his experiements, inventing new things, that can sometimes cause a bigger problem than they are supposed to fix. But being old does have its disadvantages. although he is smart, he has his old timer moments.
Nibbler. Nibbler is Leela's pet.....thing. Although when you see him in the show he just makes weird noises and runs around. In a few episodes, you find out that this little animal is actually very smart. He can talk, and he's just one of an entire elite species!
